Caring for your new Alocasia

  • When you open up your new baby, let her stretch her leaves! She was in a box for 2-3 days, do not immediately put it under grow lights. Put it in indirect bright natural light for a couple of days, as needed, to get settled. If your plant requires higher humidity, place into cabinet and slowly reintroduce light by increasing time span over a few days.
  • Your new baby will be sent into the same self watering container it was grown in, containing Dash Crack Mixture, to prevent as much shock as possible. Do not repot right away, allow the plant to acclimate to its new environment for at least 4 weeks. I recommend keeping Dashing babies kept in Dash Crack: should you switch, it may or may not react negatively.

  • 5000K Barrina T5 grow lamps are highly recommended for Pups and Teen sized Alocasia. We recommend T8 sizing for Mother sized Alocasia. We also use T5/T8 White/Pink lamps mainly for Albo/Pink, and Yellow for Albo/Aurea
  • I start my plants from corm/TC all the way to momma status in Dash Crack Alocasia Mixture (available on the website) This is a proprietary mixture hand sifted/washed by me containing: Lava rock, perlite, coco coir, and tree fern fiber
  • GT Foliage Focus is what my plants are fertilized with, otherwise, I recommend SuperThrive Foliage Pro. There should always be fertilized mixture in the bottom reservoir with every watering, or used with every watering for non self watering
    • I pour 1 cap full mixed into 1gal of water. Keep soil moist, but not wet
    • Water/soil pH should be maintained within 5.9-6.2, I test every time I water, and weekly for soil
    • A shift in pH or untested water may cause issues with the leaves and overall stability of the plant
Ambient care: 72-75F with 50-65% Humidity. If it was noted your new plant was in Ambient, please match this environment, and I would not recommend putting it into a cabinet right away
Greenhouse care: 74-77F with 75-80% Humidity. If it was noted your new plant was in my Mini Greenhouse, please match this environment and reintroduce it to higher humidity
